leading up to this day, i may or may not have been experiencing some anxiety around turning 25. 25! aren’t you supposed to have your shit together by this point? what even is an adult and at what point do you start calling yourself one? i don’t have these answers - sometimes i feel “ahead” and sometimes i feel “behind”. but i think, at the very least, i figured out some surefire ways to avoid finding myself on the kitchen floor with a lot of pie, waiting for the day to pass. here’s what you gotta do:
1. spend the day before your birthday with the friends who’ve known you longest because they’ll listen to your quarter-life crisis anxieties but then they’ll also tell you you’re an idiot and make you laugh.
2. hang out with a 2 yr old who makes you things and lets you hold her hand.
3. approach midnight on the eve of your birth alone in the car belting out songs to the One who can always be found, who is always by your side.
4. have a mom who gives you 25 mini presents every 25 minutes. (this one might be tricky, mine’s pretty cool)
yup.
